Oasis Medical
SOFT PLUG and FORM FIT Punctal Plugs
The Oasis punctal occlusion family: absorbable collagen and extended duration plugs, FORM FIT hydrogel, and long-term SOFT PLUG silicone, covering the full duration ladder from diagnostic trial to long-term occlusion.
Overview
Oasis builds its occlusion line as a ladder. SOFT PLUG Collagen dissolves in up to five days and answers the diagnostic question: does occlusion help this patient? Extended Duration 90 and 180 extend that answer to three and six months for seasonal, transient, or peri-surgical dry eye. For long-term occlusion, FORM FIT is a one-size hydrogel rod that swells to about three times its size and conforms to the vertical canaliculus with nothing at the punctal surface, while SOFT PLUG Silicone is the sized, capped, removable option with a partial drainage channel. The family keeps the trial-to-treatment pathway within one product system.

Choosing within the family
The manufacturer's framing is simple: collagen answers whether occlusion helps, extended duration carries a season or a surgical recovery, and the two long-term designs differ in philosophy. FORM FIT sits entirely inside the canaliculus with no cap to feel, while SOFT PLUG Silicone stays visible at the punctum, sized to the patient, and removable in seconds. If irritation or excessive tearing develops with an absorbable plug, saline irrigation can expel it through the lacrimal system per the instructions for use.
Who this is a good fit for
If none of these describe your practice, it is probably not the right choice, and we will tell you that.
Practices running a structured dry eye treatment pathway
Clinics that trial occlusion before committing to long-term plugs
Surgical practices using temporary occlusion around procedures
Offices that want one occlusion system across all durations
What to ask before ordering
A short conversation before the first order usually saves a reorder cycle. Here is what we would raise.
- Map the duration ladder onto your current dry eye protocol
- Review sizing strategy; Oasis reports the 0.3 mm collagen is used most
- Ask about the tapered Extended Duration 180-T if insertion speed matters
- Set up trial quantities of the durations your protocol actually uses
