Digital Acuity Systems

The acuity chart is the most-used display in the practice. Digital systems randomize optotypes, standardize luminance, and add tests a chart projector does not offer: ETDRS, contrast sensitivity, color vision, and binocular testing.

How the options differ

Reichert's ClearChart family is the self-contained lane display: the 4 covers standard optotypes, the 4X adds ETDRS, color vision, and LEA pediatric optotypes, and the 4P adds a polarized display for binocular testing without red-green glasses. M&S systems are the software-driven alternative: the PC-Plus is built for pediatric exams, and the Clinical Trial Suite meets ANSI and ISO standards for research endpoints. If your phoropter is a Reichert, ClearChart control integration is the tiebreaker; if pediatrics or trials drive you, M&S is built for it.
