Slit Lamps

Every anterior segment exam runs through the slit lamp, and the differences that matter are optics, magnification range, and what happens to the image after you see it. We carry Reichert and Envi slit lamps from routine two-magnification lamps to a 12 MP imaging platform.

How the options differ

For routine exam work, the Envi HSL-20 (10x and 16x) and Reichert Xcel 255 (10x to 25x) cover the essentials compactly. For detailed work, the Reichert Xcel 455 and Envi ZSL-50 both run five magnifications to 40x, with the ZSL-50 adding a standard yellow Wratten filter that dry eye and contact lens exams use constantly. The Envi Enview is the different animal: a five-magnification lamp with a built-in 12 MP camera, infrared meibography, and DICOM export, for practices that want the exam documented, not just performed.
