Visionix

Visionix VX 40 Pro

One-touch auto-lensmeter and lens verifier that validates finished spectacles against prescription data in about 30 seconds.

Overview

The VX 40 Pro is the verification-focused member of the VX 40 family. Where the VX 40 analyzes a lens and shows you what it is, the VX 40 Pro validates a finished pair against the prescription data and tells you whether the job is right. It runs fully automated in about 30 seconds and works stand-alone, or connects to a Briot Couture or WECO E7 edger so final inspection becomes part of the finishing workflow rather than a separate manual step. Visionix previously marketed this device as the VX 40 Couture, so older literature and quotes may use that name.

VX 40 or VX 40 Pro?

They answer different questions, and a practice can reasonably want either or both.

  • VX 40 analyzes the lens. Wavefront measurement maps power across the whole surface and shows it as a topographic map, which is what you want when you are investigating a non-adapt or checking a progressive design.
  • VX 40 Pro verifies the job. It checks a finished pair against the prescription data and is built around final inspection, including edger integration.
  • If your question is what is this lens doing, that is the VX 40. If your question is did this job come back correct, that is the VX 40 Pro.

Where edger integration matters

Stand-alone, the VX 40 Pro is a fast one-touch verifier. Connected to a Briot Couture or WECO E7, final inspection becomes part of the finishing run instead of a separate station and a separate handoff. If you do not have one of those edgers, the integration is not a reason to choose this model, and we will say so.

A note on naming

The VX 40 Pro was previously marketed as the VX 40 Couture. If you are comparing an older quote or brochure, check which name it uses before comparing prices. Ask us to confirm the configuration on any quote you are weighing.

Who this is a good fit for

If none of these describe your practice, it is probably not the right instrument, and we will tell you that.

What to ask on a demo

A demo is worth more when you arrive with your own cases and a list of questions. Here is what we would raise.

  • Bring finished jobs, including a remake you rejected, and verify them
  • Confirm whether it connects to the edger you actually run
  • Time final inspection against your current process
  • Have the staff member who does final inspection run it
  • Clarify whether you are being quoted the VX 40 or the VX 40 Pro
